GutID® Certified Practitioner Programme
Understanding the Microbiome as an Ecosystem
A practical three-part certification programme designed to help clinicians confidently interpret microbiome data, recognize clinically meaningful patterns, and build personalized interventions using an ecosystem-based approach.
Most microbiome courses focus on individual organisms.
This programme focuses on what matters most in practice: understanding the ecosystem.
Through real-world case studies, report interpretation, clinical reasoning, and protocol design frameworks, healthcare professionals will learn how to move beyond simplistic “good vs bad bacteria” thinking and develop a deeper understanding of microbial ecology, resilience, inflammation, and clinical relevance.
By the end of the programme, participants will have a structured framework for translating microbiome data into meaningful clinical decisions while avoiding the common pitfalls of over-interpretation.
What Makes This Different?
Most courses teach data. This programme teaches clinical reasoning.
Rather than focusing solely on microbiome science, participants learn:
- ✔ How to identify clinically actionable patterns
- ✔ How to recognize when findings are meaningful, and when they are not
- ✔ How to avoid overcalling results
- ✔ How symptoms, lifestyle, medications, resilience, and microbial ecology interact
- ✔ How to design personalized ecosystem-based interventions
- ✔ How to navigate uncertainty in complex cases
The emphasis throughout is on practical application, clinical judgment, and real-world patient scenarios.
The future of microbiome medicine is not about identifying individual organisms. It is about understanding ecosystems.
This practical three-part certification programme has been designed for clinicians who want to move beyond simplistic microbiome interpretations and develop the confidence to make meaningful clinical decisions using microbiome data.
Whether you are new to microbiome testing or looking to deepen your interpretation skills, this programme provides a structured framework for understanding microbial ecology, resilience, inflammation and ecosystem dynamics within the context of the whole patient.

are saying
Lindsey C.For years, I struggled with health issues, including persistent acne, only to be told that all standard tests were normal. But I knew something wasn't right. It wasn't until my physician recommended GutID that I finally found answers. GutID has been absolutely instrumental in my health journey, providing insights I couldn't find elsewhere.
Penelope K.GutID revealed my FODMAP sensitivity and probiotic needs, giving my clinician the insight to provide precise advice that keeps my gut feeling great.
Michael G.GutID helped me realize how important gut health is - now I can enjoy the foods I love while avoiding what irritates my gut.
Shipping, turnaround, replacements and payment — the things worth knowing before you buy. If anything is missing, email us and we will get back to you within 24 hours on weekdays.
-
Shipping and collection
Free shipping to you, and a prepaid envelope to send your sample back. Collection takes about five minutes at home.
Your collection tube contains a preservative that keeps the sample stable at room temperature for up to two years, so there is no refrigeration and no rush to post it.
-
Your results
Samples are processed in a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory in the United States using patented Intus Bio technology.
Once your sample reaches the lab and passes quality control, processing typically takes 3–4 weeks. Your report appears in your GutID portal account and we email you as soon as it is ready.
-
Replacements and cancellations
If your kit arrives damaged, or the collection tube is compromised, email ask@gutid.com and we will send a free replacement — provided no sample has been submitted, the kit has not expired, and a replacement is available.
If your sample fails quality control at the lab through a fault on our side, we replace the kit free of charge.
Cancel within 24 hours of ordering and you are refunded in full, less a 3% processing fee. Once preparation of your kit begins, orders cannot be canceled or returned, because of the medical nature of the product.
-
Paying with HSA or FSA
GutID may be eligible under your HSA or FSA depending on your provider. Your order confirmation works as an itemized receipt, and some providers ask for a letter of medical necessity.
Benefits coordinators occasionally decline these in error, so it is worth checking with yours before ordering. Any other questions, email ask@gutid.com — we reply within 24 hours on weekdays.
Product Details
Reliable: species and strain-level resolution
GutID runs on Titan-1™, and the resolution comes from the whole workflow rather than any single step in it: a proprietary lysis and extraction method we manufacture ourselves, which opens bacteria that conventional extraction struggles to recover; a patented amplicon spanning the complete 16S–ITS–23S ribosomal region; and our own AI/ML-driven bioinformatics platform, which assigns identity from that full region rather than matching short fragments against a fixed database.
Together these give species-level identification and strain differentiation while keeping relative abundance accurate, so your report reflects what is actually in your sample — including organisms that are poorly represented in reference databases.
Easy: Simple, Quick, and Mess-Free
Collect your sample in just 5 minutes from the comfort of your home using our intuitive, mess-free collection kit. No complicated steps, just a seamless experience designed for your convenience.
Actionable: Insights You Can Apply
Your personalized report includes clear, science-backed dietary, supplement, and lifestyle recommendations tailored to your unique microbiome. Take meaningful steps toward optimizing your gut health with recommendations designed to fit your lifestyle.

FAQs
Read our full FAQs page to find out more.
Should I choose CGI or CMA?
Both reports are built on the same sequencing platform and the same ecosystem-based interpretation framework. They differ in how far beyond the gut they look.
CGI (Core Gut Insights) asks: what is the current state of the bacterial ecosystem? It covers resilience and biodiversity, beneficial bacteria, nutrient and dietary component metabolism, and bacterial taxa associated with gastrointestinal health.
CMA (Complete Microbiome Assessment) extends that framework to microbiome–host interactions, adding the Gut Axes section — gut-brain, gut-gastrointestinal, gut-metabolism, gut-heart and gut-immune — which appears in the CMA report only. It is intended for complex or multi-system presentations.
Choose CGI when the question is the gut itself. Choose CMA when the picture is multi-system. Compare them side by side.
How long will it take to process my GutID Test sample?
Once the lab receives a sample and it passes QC (quality control), processing typically takes 3-4 weeks to yield results. Your results will be then uploaded into your gut test portal account, in addition to an email notification letting you know they are available for you to view.
Why should I test my gut microbiome?
GutID microbiome test helps you understand the unique balance of bacteria in your gut and how it affects your digestion, metabolism, and overall health. GutID’s test provides science-backed recommendations tailored to your gut health, empowering you to make informed choices about your nutrition and overall wellness.
What information will the GutID provide me?
The gut report will discover the bacteria that live in your gut. As part of the test you will receive a comprehensive report outlining:
- An overall gut microbiome health score on a scale of 0 to 100
- Executive summary including key microbiome health metrics.
- Gut health flagged areas and pathogen profiles Personalized recommendations for foods and supplements that are helpful for your specific microbiome.
Is GutID Test right for me?
If you are someone that is interested in learning more about your microbiome and its effect on health, then the GutID Test is right for you. Whether you have digestive issues or not, this test will help provide you with actionable nutrition, lifestyle and supplemental recommendations.
Why is gut microbiome health important?
Gut microbiome health is crucial because it influences digestion, immune function, metabolism, and even mental well-being. A balanced microbiome helps absorb nutrients, protect against harmful bacteria, and regulate inflammation. Disruptions in gut bacteria have been linked to conditions like obesity, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and mood disorders. Supporting gut health through diet, probiotics, and lifestyle choices can enhance overall well-being.
